Rome: City Hotels and Accommodation
Those wishing to stay in central Rome will find a vast selection of hotels just 15 km / 9 miles to the north-west of Ciampino Airport (CIA), suiting all requirements. Whilst accommodation is generally available for much of the year, it is always a good idea to book ahead, particularly during busy periods. The best hotels in Rome can quickly become fully booked from Easter time, right up to October, and also during Christmas.
Many hotels tout for business near the Termini train station and although this accommodation is cheap, it tends to be basic, quite uninviting and best avoided. However, numerous quality mid-range hotels can be found close to Rome's Termini station, being concentrated around the nearby streets of Via Amendola, Via Marghera and Via Palestro, amongst others.
Further accommodation is located in the heart of Rome, both in and around the centro storico, although the cheapest hotels in this area quickly become fully booked. More upscale lodging lies along the eastern side of the Via del Corso and near to the famous Spanish Steps.
